CHARLOTTE, NC – Facts Carolina Panthers on Monday acquired another playmaker for midfield Baker Mayfieldtransactions with Jacksonville for wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr.announced teams.

A source from the league told ESPN, The Panthers gave the Jaguars a seventh-round pick in 2023 and a sixth-round pick in 2024 for Shenault.

Shenault hit a cap of $1,309,643 in 2022, and $1,659,464 hit it in 2323.

The transaction was made 24 hours before NFL teams were required to bring their roster to 53 players. Carolina dropped to 80 on Monday.

The Panthers appear with their top four receivers in DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, Marshall Jr’s Terrace. and Shi Smiththough injuries have been an issue for Marshall since he was picked in the second round last season.

Marshall trained fully on Monday, and had a long time on the sideline showing his pace.

The Panthers made the trade in part because offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo has a history with Shenault from his 2020 season in Jacksonville as quarterback coach. Shenault also brings a skill set that sets him apart from other recipients in terms of his size (6 foot-1, 227 pounds), physicality, and block running ability.

The Jaguars draft Shenault 42nd overall in 2020. He has 121 catches of 1,219 yards and 5 touches over two seasons.

He caught 63 passes in 619 yards last season, but he also had eight drops – second in the NFL, two behind the lead Deebo Samuel – and have problems with running the wrong route.

Shenault tried returning the hounds in the spring, and trained there during training and pre-season. He returned two penalties against Pittsburgh in pre-season, choking the first and rising five yards on the other.

Shenault had three catches from 25 yards in two pre-season games. He is known more for his physicality than for his speed. He ran a 4.58 40-yard run at the NFL scouting complex in 2020.

Jacksonville had some success getting him the ball in the bottom area (132 yards on 29 attempts). He’s never been as big of a threat as he is in Colorado.

In another move, the Panthers traded offensive lineups Dennis Daley and their 2024 seventh-round pick to Tennessee for the Titans’ 2024 fifth-round pick. Daley has started 21 games between handler and guard over the past three seasons.
