Jay Leno has returned to stand-up comedy two weeks after sustaining third-degree burns when a fire broke out in his Burbank garage.
the Old Tonight’s program the presenter has performed for an hour at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, a venue where he appears almost weekly on Sunday nights since 1978. On Mondays , NBC’s Today the show featured clips of Leno entering the club for his comedy on Sunday nights.
“Tonight we have two shows – regular and especially engaging,” Leno told reporters, downplaying his recent injury before adding: “I never thought of myself as a grilled comics.”
On November 21, Leno was discharged from the Grossman Burn Center just over a week after being treated for a third-degree burn he developed following a fire that broke out in the garage where he stored a Classic car collection. Leno underwent surgery for burns on his face, chest and hands and continues to receive outpatient care as he is expected to make a full recovery.
