Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill Explain ‘GOAT’ To Meryl Streep – The Hollywood Reporter

Meryl Streep hilariously mistaken for Adam McKay’s actor Don’t look up calling her GOAT like a swipe at her age.

While appearing on The Late Show Monday night, Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she had to explain to her award-winning co-star that being called GOAT was a compliment, not actually a comment about how old she is.

“We cordially call Meryl GOAT [the greatest of all time]’, the actress recalls. “And we were doing a photo session and I said something like GOAT and Meryl was like, ‘That’s right. Just tell the old goat where to go. ‘ I said, ‘Meryl, you know that GOAT is meant to be the greatest of all time, right?’ And she said, ‘Oh, no!’

“It’s like we haven’t called you goat all this time,” added Lawrence.

Above Tonight’s show with Jimmy Fallon, Jonah Hill offers a slightly different setting for the interaction, saying that Lawrence’s explanation takes place around an interview. The actor revealed that he called Meryl a GOAT during a press week before she publicly admitted it.

“Then today we were holding a press conference and she said, ‘You know, Jonah is so comfortable with me, he’s been calling me a goat all week.’ And I was like, what the heck? ‘” Hill recalls, causing the audience to laugh. “Jennifer Lawrence explained it to her. [Meryl] told Jennifer about this – and she’s great, she’s not even offended by it! She was just like, “I guess he likes me and is calling me a goat.”

“[Streep] like, ‘Hey, thanks for calling me GOAT. I thought you were calling me a goat the whole time,” Hill added.

During her late night visit with Colbert, Lawrence also explained the story she shared previously about losing a tooth while filming. Don’t look up.

“It was really stupid. It’s a thin board. But if someone knows what’s underneath the chipboard, it’s much worse. It looks like sharp fangs. So I lost that and I couldn’t go to the dentist because of COVID so they just glued my teeth,” she explained.

Lawrence said she hadn’t even asked if they could bring a vaccinated dentist to the set. She just said she could do it without her stickers, leading to what Colbert describes as the film having to shoot “frame by frame and put a tooth in.” [her] mouth.”

“Thank God for the Netflix money,” Lawrence smiled and replied.
