Jimmy Kimmel Weighs In on Will Smith Allegedly Refusing to Leave Oscars After Slapping Chris Rock
Over the past few nights, Jimmy Kimmel – former host of the Oscars – has repeatedly considered slap is seen ‘around the world in his late-night monologues. First you support Will Smith for initially laughing at Chris Rock’s joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith shaved her head (she suffers from alopecia areata) before storming onto the stage and making the presenter gasp. After that, Kimmel mocked Fox News’ baseless theory that the whole incident was staged.
Round three came on Wednesday night, when a dubious statement emerged from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that it asked Smith to leave after the slap and he refused.
“I don’t know who asked him to leave. Maybe Jazzy Jeff asked him? Kimmel said: “Who can claim his Oscar if he is disqualified? Chris Rock, maybe? I do not know!”
“You know, usually when someone asks to leave and refuses to go, that’s when security comes in and takes the person away,” he continued. “But in this case, they decided to give him the Oscar and let him come back on stage to talk.”
The academy’s statement that it asked Smith to leave appears to contradict previous reports of the incident, which include CNN’s Chloe Melas‘revealed that “There were “immediate discussions” about removing Smith from the Oscars, “but academy decision-makers sat in various positions within the Dolby Theater [sic] and couldn’t campaign to make a decision before he’d won Best Actor.”
Later, likely killer OJ Simpson stated that the entire slap scene was “unfortunate” and “Will was wrong… Look, I understand the feeling.”
“When OJ was giving a lecture on self-control…” Kimmel suggested.
After Kimmel taped his show, Rock somethings like that Break his silence with a slap on a stand-up comedy show in Boston, said, “I don’t know what happened, so if you’re coming to hear that, I have a whole show that I wrote before this weekend.
