Joe Joyce to Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk: ‘Can you guys fight please!’ | boxing news
Joe Joyce could make the most money from the collapse of negotiations between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury has previously said that if he doesn’t win the undisputed title with Usyk, he will beat Joyce in an all-British blockbuster showdown.
But even Joyce still wants to see Fury vs Usyk happen.
“I hope that it happens. It’s undisputed [heavyweight title fight]. When was the last time it was undisputed? They need to have that fight. It needs to happen. Then you can open some more battles,” said London’s Joyce Sports sky.
“Can you guys start the fight? I think it’s already started. What’s the reason this time?”
However, Fury is still the fight Joyce craves, and it will be the biggest fight of the Londoner’s career.
But Joyce understands how important Fury-Usyk is to the sport as a whole and how much better it would be if he challenged the winner in the end.
“I’ve got the Interim WBO, I want the full title. Then everyone can challenge me for that, go to some great fights and then we can all live happily ever after. forever,” Joyce said.
“Everybody wants to watch the undisputed. It’s been a long time. Once that fight happens, there will be another undisputed war lined up.”
Joyce fights Olympic silver medalist Zhilei Zhang on April 15.
“First I have to beat Zhang, before I can beat Fury,” he said.
“I aim to have a destructive performance and beat him in style and then push [for] angry fight. That’s the fight I want. Fury said he wanted to fight me.
“In the meantime I hope that [Fury-Usyk] fight across boundaries.
“A big fight with Zhang and hopefully everything will be resolved and then I’ll fight Fury.”
Should Fury vs Usyk negotiations fail to restart, as WBO’s interim belt holder, Joyce could end up becoming the mandatory challenger to former amateur rival Usyk.
But heavyweight boxing is anything but predictable.
“Things are sometimes out of our control,” Joyce reflects. “It’s frustrating when things don’t go the way you want them to.
“I just have to keep winning and sooner or later I won’t have to argue.”
Bakole calls Usyk
Martin Bakole has previously suggested that he stopped Oleksandr Usyk in the confrontation, a claim that the Ukrainian team was quick to dismiss.
Bakole has now offered to join and fight Usyk, if he is looking for a new opponent.
Usyk is expected to be coached against his must-have challenger Daniel Dubois for the next WBA belt.
Though with Dubois having completed his recovery from injury in his final game, Bakole could see an opportunity to move forward. Behind Dubois, Bakole is the highest rated contender in the WBA heavyweight rankings.
In a message to Usyk, Bakole declared: “I am available anytime, anywhere. If you are available, you can call Sports sky and I can fight any time.
“You know what happened in Dubai. But forget it. It was just a fight. Now I want a real battle. I want to face you.”
“I’m free. Because Friend.”
