John Cena, Alison Brie Team for Action Comedy ‘Freelance’ – The Hollywood Reporter
Alison Brie will star opposite John Cena in Freelance, an action comedy film by Take directed by Pierre Morel.
AGC Studios, run by Stuart Ford, is behind the project, which is produced by Steve Richards of Endurance Media, Sentient’s Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin.
Jacob Lentz’s screenplay revolves around a former special forces operator who, desperate to escape her dull life, takes a job providing security for a journalist hoping to save her career by How to interview a dictator. Things go sideways when a military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, and the mismatched duo, along with the dictator, escape into the jungle, where they must survive being hunted by the army. animals that hunt them and each other.
Cena, now flying high thanks to the recently released HBO Max DC series People of Peace, which comes as no surprise playing a military veteran, with Brie being tapped to play the journalist.
Production is expected to begin later this month in Colombia. AGC and Endurance are co-sponsors. AGC, ICM Partners and UTA Independent are representing rights in the country.
Brie, who showed off her comedy as one of the stars of the hit comedy series Community, leading on LIGHT, the prematurely-released comedy-drama that has garnered a loyal fan base over three seasons on Netflix.
In other words, she appeared in Promising young woman and Happiest season, both are released in 2020 and will be watched in romantic comedy next Somebody I used to know, directed by husband Dave Franco.
