John Oliver Reveals How He’s Been Trolling Dr. Oz for Years
On Sunday evening, the edition of Last week Tonight, John Oliver Start the program by addressing recent endorsement of former President Donald Trump of the snake oil seller Dr. Mehmet Ozwho has aggressively pushed hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 during the pandemic, in the race for the Pennsylvania Senate.
“You know, when you’re in television for 18 years, it’s like a poll. That means people like you. But he’s a great guy,” Trump said of Oz.
“Oh. I haven’t heard that voice in a while and, to be honest, I really didn’t miss it. The first growl in that clip is like hearing the sound of a spinning lawn mower that you know is about to sexually harass you,” Oliver said. “Now, as for his claim there that being on TV for a long time is like a poll showing people who like you, that’s completely not true. Trust me. I’ve been in television in this country for 16 years now and I still get YouTube comments like ‘I hope he stops soon’, ‘why less funny sir. Beans so crazy? ‘”
Oliver went on to describe Dr Oz’s Senate campaign as “a crazy demonstration”, including revealing that Dr Oz clearly didn’t spend much time living in Pennsylvania.
“For many years he lived in New Jersey and his social media regularly showed him at his North Jersey mansion, so he was running for office in one state. that he didn’t seem to want to live — a savvy political move known as the ‘Eric Adams Special,’ Oliver suggested.
The late-night host later revealed that Dr. Oz’s show was filmed in the same studio as his, and that Dr. Oz’s office was directly across. Last week Tonight‘s, led Oliver’s staff to locate a giant alligator holding his middle finger at Dr. Oz’s office. One of Dr Oz’s biggest campaign successes was creating a TikTok video of him refueling his car and then blaming Biden and the Democrats for the high prices.
“Look, gas prices are a real concern, but Dr Oz is worth over $100 million, so it would be a bit odd for him to act like it was straining the budget,” Oliver said. specifically his. “But maybe he’s just posting those videos to push slightly less relevant content down his page like, I don’t know, this.”
He then posted a video Dr. Oz posted of himself windsurfing in Italy with the caption “Surfing through #Italy like” and set to the tune “Oooh Ahh (My Life Be Like)” by Grits.
“And the truth is, his life is the way it is because he’s rich, which means he has to do stuff like that,” explains Oliver. “What he doesn’t have to do, though, is stand in front of gas pumps and pretend he’s affected by those numbers.”
He continued: “I talked a lot of nonsense about The Dr. Oz Show And I did because it was horrible. But what is clear now is that I didn’t appreciate how hard his staff had to work every day to make sure things didn’t get worse. He had to give up his program to run for the Senate, and if any of his employees return to our office in the coming weeks to clear their stuff, we’ve really done it. left a special new message for them on our alligator: ‘I’m sorry, he’s like a fucking nightmare. ‘ Because of him really do.”
