John Stamos, Kevin Hart Address Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper Sober NYE – The Hollywood Reporter
Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper spent New Year’s Eve live from New York City’s Times Square for their sixth year as co-hosts. However, this year is a little different.
For the first time, Cohen and Cooper’s NYE did not include any drinking behavior on camera by reporters. The change comes after last year’s broadcast when Cohen made comments about the band Journey and Ryan Seacrest that he said were “overblown”.
The See what happens live the presenter, who had been drinking with Cooper on the air during their NYE show, saw the band Journey performing on New Year’s Eve by Dick Clark without their former frontman Steve Perry. He called the show’s guests “the Ryan Seacrest group of losers” and said that anyone who watched ABC that night “did not see anything”.
As a result, Cohen and Cooper were not allowed to drink until after midnight when Brian Cox brought them a bottle of champagne. Instead of alcohol, they have mystery treats at the beginning of every hour with things like apple cider vinegar, buttermilk, and pickle juice. But the sober evening went unnoticed by some of the show’s guests such as John Stamos, Kevin Hart and Amy Sedaris.
At the beginning of the four-hour broadcast, Sedaris asked the hosts what they would do if they didn’t drink during the show, then went on to list silly-sounding drug names like “weekly dust.” fortune”, “scorpion seeds”, “love lightning”. ” and “jack diablo apple powder.”
“Is this all hot substances?” Cooper asked Sedaris. “That was hot stuff,” she replied, adding, “Do you snort? Did you chew it? Dilute it in water and drink it? Did you rub it all over each other’s private parts?
Next up is Stamos, who appeared via video in a tuxedo with his wife and son from their home. When Cohen asked him how he felt when he hosted the show Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Evee with Heather Locklear in 1988, Stamos admits he doesn’t remember much because they drank “unlike you.”
“I’m glad you don’t drink. I haven’t drank in seven and a half years,” the actor continued. “But you’re funnier when you’re drinking.”
Late in the evening, Cohen and Cooper hand everything over to Hart, who lives in Las Vegas, where he’s set to perform his stand-up special. Fact Check: New Year’s Eve Experience. From the start, Hart has expressed that he’s disappointed that the men have been too sober during their performance this year.
The comedian told the hosts: “I’ll do what you can’t. “I will shoot because you have been deceived. I can not believe you. I can’t believe CNN told you guys not to go and cut back in such a nice way. It’s the perfect TV.”
Hart continued, with parts of it already leaked to the net, “I can’t believe they brought this damn thing on you guys. That’s right, CNN, I said shit. I said nonsense. I said nonsense. I said it all. I annoyed. I’m annoyed that you left these two guys sober here today. This is a blow to what you have to do – from me to you.
He ended on a more serious and positive note, saying that great television is made by great people who are themselves.
“You can’t get rid of the vices or the drugs that make them who they are,” says Hart. “You guys are who you are. You shined on this platform because they let you be yourself. Don’t go that way. You celebrate it, you toast it, and you magnify it. That’s what good TV is. That’s why good TVs work.”
