John Wick Prequel Show Coming to Peacock in 2023
John Wick’s prequel series is slated to premiere in 2023, on NBC Subscription Service, Peacock. Continent, a three-part series set in the Hotel Continental, which originally premiered on Starz. Peacock has since acquired the series along with the rights to John Wick trilogy.
Continent is an origin story for the hotel, a secret hideout of assassins set throughout the John Wick films. The Continental Hotel is a neutral territory, making it a natural venue for meetings and wits between deadly agents of the underworld.
The story is told from the perspective of Winston Scott, portrayed by Colin Woodell (Purge) , when he moved to New York City to take on the new management position of Continental. The show takes place in 1975, so it’s a much younger version of the character played by Ian McShane in the movie. The younger version of Charon and Charlie, played by Ayomide Adegun (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction), is also part of the population. There’s also a new cast of characters, played by Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allin (Chainsaw massacre in Texas), Mishel Prada (Fear the Walking Dead) and Nhung Kate. Mel Gibson has also been cast on the show, although the actor has a notorious past on both allegations. domestic violenceas well as usage history anti-Semitic, racist, homophobiaand misogynistic language.
The next film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter Fouris scheduled to hit theaters in March 2023.
