Jonah Hill Says Not Looking At Character’s Birkin Bag Was His Idea – The Hollywood Reporter
When watching Don’t look upJonah Hill’s character can be seen sporting a Hermès Birkin handbag. The actor admits accessories are his personal choice.
In an interview for WReleased Friday by Best Performance magazine, the actor discussed his character’s luxury accessory and was started by Meryl Streep. In the Adam McKay film, Hill plays President Streep’s son and chief of staff, Janie Orlean, a role he describes as “if Fyre Festival were a person and that person had power in the White House.”
“He wears a suit because he works in the White House, but I gave him a Birkin because he resembles his mother,” says Hill of why he made the handbag an accessory. “A lot of these people worship their father, and I think it’s great that he worships his mother. He always calls his mother ‘all-around rock star.’ That’s great, isn’t it? ”
Hill’s choice of Birkin isn’t the only priority for a role in the film. Don’t look up Costume designer Susan Matheson has revealed that Timothée Chalamet requested his mullet to resemble hers. Tiger Kingby Joe Exotic.
Despite starring alongside some friends, notably Leonardo DiCaprio, Hill admits he was amazed when he met Streep. “I could shake her hand a few times,” he said. The two quickly formed a “super impulse dynamic,” explaining that Streep’s work ethic was remarkable.
“She was amazing: as a person, as an expert, as an artist,” he explains. “She was there for rehearsals after I left. She was there before me. She’s like in beast mode all the time, and so cool. We would talk a lot and hang out together, so the threat disappeared pretty quickly. “
While making the film, Hill said that he lived with DiCaprio and that they would spend time watching the movie. However, Hill admits that there was one show in particular DiCaprio tried to get him to watch that he wasn’t a fan of. “Leo made me watch Mandalorian when we are doing Don’t look up, and it was like, Baby Yoda is cute, but I just don’t care because I don’t know anything about it,” he said, explaining that he doesn’t usually watch science fiction.
Outside Don’t look up, Hill also reflected on one of his memorable roles: Very bad. When asked if he would be involved in a sequel to the 2007 film, the actor revealed that he had a vision of what it would be. “I have not introduced this to anyone.
