Joshua Kimmich: After suffering lung problems from Covid, Bayern star says he should have been vaccinated
Kimmich has previously expressed reluctance to get vaccinated due to “anxiety and fear” about the vaccine, but doctors said doctors found fluid in his lungs, which would have put him out of business until 2022.
The 26-year-old man tested positive for Covid-19 last month but has yet to return to training as doctors have advised him to rest for 10 days. Kimmich says he’s been told intense activity can lead to heart problems and long-term effects.
“In general, it’s hard for me to deal with my fears and worries. So I haven’t decided for a long time. So I can’t make this decision.
“I probably had to go through this experience. Looking back, I made the decision to vaccinate much earlier, but at the time, I couldn’t make that decision.”
Kimmich said he recently planned to get vaccinated, but “unfortunately, my illness came first.”
Due to his unvaccinated condition, Kimmich was forced into isolation last month after coming into contact with a positive case, causing him to miss Bayern’s 2-1 Bundesliga defeat by Augsburg.
Kimmich has since missed two more Bundesliga matches, including Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund and two Champions League matches due to his positive test results.
“I have a bad conscience, first towards my family, who have to hear reproaches, then towards my teammates,” he said. “I’m the guy sitting at home who’s missed the highlights and can’t help the team.
“I let the team down because I got infected and was also quarantined twice because I was a contact. This wouldn’t have happened if I had been vaccinated.
“There was no criticism from the team. They asked me, but it’s each individual’s decision so everyone has to understand. On the other hand, I understand that others would be angry if someone missed out on matches. important place.I will also be angry.
“I fully understand that the club has reduced my salary.”
“We want to help those who are affected by the aura condition,” he said. “We want to help the big losers. One project is to help UNICEF deliver vaccines to countries that are less likely to have access to vaccines.
“In our country, we have the luxuries of giving boosters to everyone, everybody can get a third vaccine. In those countries, people just don’t have the ability to give it. deciding whether or not to get vaccinated because they don’t have a vaccine. And I think this fact shows that I’m not anti-vaxxer.”
