Jourdan Sloane talks fall fashion and her new collaboration with Wayf
What was the most fun part of creating your collection with WAYF?
Sloane: This whole process has been a dream come true and the WAYF team has been amazing to work with. This is the first design collaboration I’ve done in which I have had full creative control over the design process, the inspiration, since day one. The funniest part is coming up with ideas and initial inspiration for the collection. I love diving into inspiration, creating mood boards and of course seeing how Nordstrom can translate that.
What would you say is the inspiration behind your collection?
Sloane: The inspiration behind the collection is undoubtedly a modern working woman. A woman is the creative director of her life. She is a landlady, classy, smart, stylish, powerful. I wanted the collection to show that while being something you could wear every day.
Have you always wanted to design your own clothes? Why is WAYF the perfect parting company for you?
Sloane: Yes, I’ve always wanted to design my own collection. I studied fashion design in college, so I am very interested and passionate about product design and development. I would love to work with Wayf because they are an amazing group of hard working women who really want to bring my vision to life.
Which part of the collection are you most excited about?
Sloane: I love every item for different occasions, whether it’s an oversized sweater or a power suit. If I could choose one look, it would be the black NITS power suit with feathers on the trim. It’s the perfect versatile product for any season. You can team it with a simple white tank and sneakers, or heels for a night out. I also love the Rodeo set, a leather suit that goes well with pants and a tank top- it’s a staple.
Who did you think of when you created your collection?
Sloane: A growing up Cher, from Know nothing.
What trends or luxury items are you most excited about for fall?
Sloane: I’m so excited about the placement! I love the versatility of layering unexpected pieces with vintage fall staplers. I like anything oversized, feathery, elastic waistband, and clean trousers.
