The panel included Junya Enoki, Yuichi Nakamura and Nobunaga Shimazaki, who respectively played Yuji Itadori, Satoru Gojo and Mahito in the series. Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Voice actor of Suguru Geto, Takahiro Sakurai, has also been set to appear. However, he was absent due to a recent private life scandal.

The message from Akutami was read aloud by Shimazaki. Translated, it reads:

“Thank you for your continued support of Jujutsu Kaisen. Unfortunately, we often have to hear the news that scares us every day. Honestly, it’s surprising how many people enjoy my work even when reality seems to be slowly but surely squeezing us.”

It continues:

“I will continue to draw nonsense, and Gege (referring to himself) will be happy if you continue to stay with me and enjoy my work for about another year (maybe).”

In Mando Kobayashi, Gege Sensei said that JJK will end in 2 years… So maybe now it’s been updated that JJK will end in about 1 year😭#Jujutsu Kaisen https://t.co/8AkuWHaYOS

Needless to say, the message was confusing and led to rampant speculation. Akutami previously announced in January 2021 that he wants to finish his series within two years.

Looks like the deadline has been extended due to the introduction of the Culling Game. One of the ongoing debates in the fandom is whether Destruction game arc will be the final arc of the manga. Suffice it to say, Akutami’s message seems to confirm this speculation for some fans.

Meanwhile, many fans believe that while The Destruction game arc may end after a year, the manga itself will continue, due to the amount of storylines that Akutami has yet to resolve. While fans have mostly acknowledged that the series will end in tragedy, it’s only natural that they want to prolong the appearance of said ending.

Enoki even commented that he doesn’t trust the manga’s ending dates, possibly alluding to how My Hero Academy Mangaka Kohei Horikoshi has planned to end her series this year. However, the latter is unable to do so as the story is far from over.
