Junto Nakatani defends WBO flyweight title with fourth-round TKO
Tucson, Arizona – WBO flyweight champion Junto Nakatani defended his title for the first time on Friday in Tuscon, Arizona, after beating first-place rival Angel Acosta of Puerto Rico by technical knockout in the fourth round.
Playing his first game abroad, the 23-year-old stumbled in the first round at Casino Del Sol and the referee soon had to intervene when Acosta bled after being caught red-handed with a punch good from the champion.
“I caught him in the first round and that allowed me to set the pace of the game,” Nakatani said.
“The fans were very excited so I believe I deservedly won. I have a strong desire to fight a title unification struggle. “
Nakatani extended his perfect career record to 22-0 with 17 knockouts, while Acosta fell 22-3 with 21 KOs.
