Just one more week in Jerry’s World

It’s been a busy week for Jerry Jones after the NFL draft. First, there are three days of drafts, like so tired The whole process is possible. Jones then drafted a Tyler Smith solution with an overall pick of 24 and was immediately questioned by almost everyone in Dallas. And to justify the selection, Jones decided to show Dallas’ draft to the media during a press conference. A few days later, Jones found himself in the hospital after the so-called minor traffic accident. Based on Todd Archer of ESPNJones reportedly did well and returned home.

Luckily for Jones, he was not seriously injured in the crash. The only thing that seems to have taken a hit this past week has been Jones’ ego. The criticism he received, especially from the local media, seemed to hit Jerry’s nerves. Jones takes pride in every business move he makes, and this year’s selection of Smith in the first round was no different.

But Jerry and the Cowboys office seem to be the only ones confident they’ve made the right choice. Maybe Jones is right, and maybe we’ll see this boy develop into a brilliant player over the next few years. Right now, no one else really feels the same way.

Longtime Dallas reporter and radio host Bob Sturm says (with glee) that he will put your hand in his retirement paper if Jones uses his first pick on Smith. After Day 1 of the draft, Smith called joined Sturm’s show at 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas and had some fun with him after committing to retirement. Now that I think about it, maybe Jones lost the 24th Smith overall to tie it to Sturm. I know it’s unlikely, but Jerry hears everything about the Cowboys around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

It is clear that Jones’ ego was influenced by subsequent criticism. Jerry was so preoccupied with the question of his choice that he held out a Cowboys draft card in the middle of the press to show us how coveted Smith is, internally. This is a taboo around the league, as teams often don’t want this information to float around freely.

I believe that everyone has some measure of ego. And that amount can add up with success. Jones has been a very successful businessman and NFL owner for his 79 years. And he has probably the biggest ego of any professional sports executive in North American sport over the past 25 years. And that is there is no victory any Super Bowls during that time. Radio program

Jerry was the catalyst that helped the NFL hit new revenue heights never seen before. Jones played a key role in bringing the Raiders to Las Vegas and producing the Rams’ move to Los Angeles. Don’t let it get twisted; Jones has his mark on many of the NFL’s big money moves. Hell, Jones is the only NFL owner with his own weekly radio show. Jerry has the biggest ego in any room he walks into. So, of course, he will feel in some way about the media and fans questioning his football acumen.

Regardless of how we feel about Jones’ draft picks, he will continue to do it his way. He’s actually had a pretty good track record in auditions over the past decade, especially. And besides, Jerry is making money with his fists, and if you can’t win the championship, you might as well get richer. So carry on, Jerry.
