Karlovy Vary Adds ‘Lynch/Oz,’ Documentary To Complete Lineup – The Hollywood Reporter

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has completed its 2022 lineup, adding a documentary by Alexandre O. Philippe Lynch / Oz into its Horizons section and three new launches for its Imagina sidebar.

Lynch / Oz, which premiered in Tribeca earlier this month, will have its European premiere at the Czech festival. Philippe’s documentary essay explores how the classic film Wizard of Oz helped inspire and shape the work of David Lynch (Double top, Mulholland Drive, Green velvet). Alexandre O. Philippe will attend Karlovy Vary to present the film on July 4. The film festival will also screen. Wizard of OzLynch’s Wild at Heartand the 1985 science fiction classic by Robert Zemeckis Back to the futureall play an important role in documentaries.

For the Imagination section, which highlights more experimental work, Karlovy Vary added three world premieres to his final list: Tiger, tiger, Cadence – A Story of Paper and Fabricand Partial images of hell (Part IV).

Karlovy Vary announced the main Crystal Ball Competition and Special Screening program last month, selecting 33 titles, 27 of which have already premiered worldwide, to screen in the 56th edition from July 1-9, 2022.

Among the world’s first premieres was Ofir Raul Graizer Americas, a tribute to American cinema of the 1960s and 70s; Tomasz Wiński . Polish erotic films Boundaries of love; Masaaki Kudo’s A Far Shore, a look at poverty in Okinawa, Japan; and Sadaf Fo Rouhi .’s Iran-set sports drama Summer with hope.
