KEKI / VOROS RECEIVED NATIONWIDE DOUBLE RATINGS IN THE FINAL ITA POLL
SACRAMENTO – After an incredible springtime in which the duo hit a 20-1 record, Sacramento State’s doubles team Mark Keki and Mate Voros received the first national ranking of the season in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.
The pair ranked 73rd nationally, becoming the first nationally ranked Hornet doubles team since Kasparas Zemaitelis/Mikus Losbergs in 2016. Overall, Keki/Voros only became the fourth Sacramento State ranked doubles team. national rankings, along with Zemaitelis / Losbergs (2016 ), Kiryl Harbatsiuk / Marko Starcevic (2010), and Harbatsiuk / Anton Stryhas (2010, 2009).
Keki/Voros, both sophomores, were also named the All-Big Sky Conference’s first team in doubles after a season that saw both sides trailing 20- 1, all from number 1 in the lineup. That includes a perfect 8-0 record in Big Sky matches, and their overall win percentage (.952) is the best in show history for any Hornet pairing.
They were the only #1 doubles team in the tournament to win 8-0 in a Big Sky match, and the 20 wins also set the school record for most doubles wins. One of those wins was against a nationally ranked competitor from Montana State.
The duo won their first 11 doubles matches of the season before going solo, and each of the final nine after that. In fact, they have never lost away, with a score of 11-0 away and 1-0 at neutral.
Sacramento State finished the season with a 12-11 record, a nine-game improvement from the previous year.
