Khamzat Chimaev’s trainer likened his level of training to Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Floyd Mayweather

Khamzat Chimaev already known for working hard non-stop, even adding midnight cardio sessions into competition week to stay focused. According to his coach, Andreas Michael, that crazy work ethic is why he will become a legend along with other greats in the sports world.

Interviewed by French boutique La Sueur before his main event against Nate Diaz at UFC 279, Michael was asked how he responded to people who said Chimaev’s intense training schedule didn’t make sense. He replied:

“When you see Kobe Bryant, and you see Michael Jordan, and when you see Mayweather and all these men, it makes sense to them. Because they have the same work ethic. Really. crazy…but you’re not them And that’s why it’s crazy for you You’re not them and that’s why you’ll never be That’s insane. Madness is a fact of legend. Insanity is only madness to those who become nothing.”

Khamzat Chimaev took on Nate Diaz on September 10 with a five-fight win in the UFC. A dominant win over Diaz could cement his place as the No. 1 contender in the welterweight division. The only thing stopping him from fighting for his next title is a likely rematch between champ Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, who held the title for more than three years before losing to Edwards at UFC 278.

Daniel Cormier thinks Khamzat Chimaev is “the biggest loser” after UFC 278

Former UFC champ and commentator Daniel Cormier gave Khamzat Chimaev’s new situation after his belt loop at UFC 278. In a new episode of UFC 278. 3 Round he say:

“I think last weekend [Khamzat] didn’t understand that he was the biggest loser in the Usman vs Leon situation because he was in line. All he has to do is get past Diaz. All he has to do, pass Diaz, you fight for the championship, but with Leon Edwards winning, we now have a trio and rightfully so. “

Cormier went on to question what Khamzat Chimaev gained from his win over Nate Diaz at UFC 279. Given how much Chimaev likes to stay active, it’s unlikely he’ll be ready to sit on the sidelines until Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman fighting in early 2023. The winner of that fight then has to recover and get some rest before rejoining another championship camp.

All of this could keep ‘Borz’ from having a title war until mid-2023.
