Kia EV6 GT delayed to 2023

The Kia EV6 GT EV performance has been delayed until early next year, the brand has confirmed.

A spokesperson for Kia Australia told CarExpert the 430kW halo car is likely to debut in the 2023 Australian Open tennis game, of which the Korean brand is the main sponsor. AO 2023 is scheduled to run from January 16-19.

Kia has previously said the EV6 GT will arrive in late 2022 (October to December) – but as we’ve seen across the industry, production delays and component shortages are still devastating.

While deliveries to customers won’t begin until the new year, it is expected that local pricing and specifications will be announced before that time – aside from powertrain, details of Australia has very little left.

CarExpert predicts the EV6 GT will cost around $100,000, with the brand reporting several $2000 deposits have been placed on the new flagship.

Come back in July The local branch detailed the local tuning and handling program it has launched for the upcoming EV6 GT, which begins at the Nurburgring in Germany and continues on Australian roads.

Tuning the EV6 GT was initially done at the Nurburgring in Germany, where it was rated as “confident, powerful and stable”. Kia Australia’s product and tuning teams have also traveled to Germany looking for ‘B-class’ roads close to recreating Australia’s rural surfaces.

Tuning in Germany “locked in hard parts” includes hydraulic adjustment for the shock absorbers and Engine Power Steering (MDPS). In Australia, Kia is working on “finishing steps” around Canberra and the greater Australian Capital Territory (ACT) as recently as a few months ago.

Kia Australia General Manager of Product Roland Rivero said: “Given the opportunity to add a new dynamic aura to our range, it was important that we developed an Australian tone, not an Australian one. simply adopt a specification from another market.

With 430kW and 740NmThe EV6 GT is Kia’s most powerful production car ever, with a 0-100km/h speed of 3.5 seconds on its way to top speed 260km/h.

Key to the performance boost is a new rear electric motor that’s 63% less powerful than the rear motor found on regular EV6 models. The EV6 GT’s rear electric motor alone generates 270kW (6800-9400rpm), adding to the 160kW (4400-9000rpm) of the front motor.

The most powerful variant available for the EV6, the AWD dual-motor version is only offered locally in the GT-Line trim, making 239kW and 605Nm combined. It manages to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of 185km/h.

As standard, the EV6 GT is equipped with a long range 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which Kia Europe says is good for a 424 kilometers of scope. It can be charged from 10 to 80% within 18 minutes. Read more details about the EV6 GT here.
