It hasn’t even been revealed yet, but the new one KIA EV9 Three-row electric SUV confirmed for local introduction in time the end of 2023The domestic branch of the brand has confirmed.
Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith confirmed the EV9 will hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year, with around “400 units” currently allocated for the rest of the year.
More details will be revealed when the EV9 is revealed in production form in the coming months. auto expert understand that there will be some form of announcement sometime between March and April, though the exact time and location remains a mystery.
The EV9 will be Kia’s second model based on Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle (EV) architecture E-GMP, which has underpinned the EV6, as well as related models. Hyundai ioniq 5, ioniq 6 and Genesis GV60. Hyundai will launch its own version of EV9 based on Seven concepts revealed last year.

While it’s not clear what will power the EV9 – we’re expecting single- and dual-motor electric powertrain options – Kia said when it revealed the Concept EV9 that it’s capable of driving the range. up to 483km between charges, with a peak power of 350kW DC fast charging can replenish 10-80 percent in just 20 or 30 minutes.
Earlier this weekhowever, a market research survey is sent to Kia Telluride owners and viewed by Car hybrid revealed that the EV9 will be offered with a choice of single-engine rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive.
Five variants were detailed in the survey, starting with a single-engine base model delivering 149kW/339Nm and a claimed 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time of 8.5 second; all the way to a high-powered dual-motor flagship with a range of 386km and 298kW and 651Nm, as well as an acceleration from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds.
US indicative prices from the survey show the EV9 starting at US$56,000 (AU$79,650) and peaking at US$73,000 (AU$103,772). For reference, a high-spec Sorento PHEV in the US costs $49,990 (AU$71,102) and costs a little over $80,000 here.

This would make the EV9 the most expensive Kia model offered in Australia, surpassing the EV6 GT’s $99,950 plus road sticker price in the higher-end segment. It is likely the first car in the brand’s lineup to have a list price above $100,000 before on-road costs.
Speaking of firsts, the EV9 will become the brand’s first and largest full-size SUV in the local lineup.
The Telluride is not locally offered like the related Hyundai Palisade because it is manufactured exclusively in left-wheel drive (LHD) at Kia’s West Point facility in Georgia, USA.
The EV9 has a number of visual design associations with the large Telluride, including a vertical light signature and boxy design.
