Knee fights enter the arena of combat sports: ‘Don’t get caught napping’

Steve Williams, a man with a childhood dream of turning horseback riding into a professional combat sport, said PFC offers all the drama of hand-to-hand combat without the gore of total martial arts. or boxing.

Williams, CEO of the PFC, told Reuters: “It’s not something where you sit there and laugh and feathers fly.

“It’s seriousness. It’s swinging with specialized pillows.”

Although the male and female competitors in January’s event are mainly from the thrilling worlds of MMA and boxing, kids will still sleep soundly after watching the matches.

“The only difference between our fights and the MMA matches is that nobody got hurt,” he said.

“Boxers don’t like getting injured, and there are a lot of people who don’t want to see blood. They want to see good competition, they just don’t want to see violence.”

The fact that so many people grow up pillowing their siblings, friends and parents makes the sport relatable, which he hopes will help reach a new audience.

“You could call it an alternative sport, but we think it will have mainstream appeal,” he said.

“Think about how they mix country music with rap and bring these diverse audiences together. That’s what we’re doing and we hope it brings a different kind of audience.”

The three-round matches will be available to watch on the FITE sports streaming platform.
