Knives Out’s Rian Johnson is doing a weeklong mystery show

Between the new Pull out the knife next part Onion and upcoming series Poker Facedirector Rian Johnson is putting his best foot forward in the procedural detective genre. Poker Facestarring Natasha Lyonne (Russian dolls) and a parade of A-list guest stars like Adrian Brody, Ron Perlman and Tim Blake Nelson, had its first trailer on Wednesday. It did look like a joy. The series will premiere on Peacock on January 26.

Poker Face follows Lyonne as Charlie, a detective with “an uncanny ability to tell when someone is lying.” Armed with that uncanny talent, Charlie embarks on a crime-solving path, giving the show the perfect pretext for a classic-style one-week mystery TV format. Along the way, she meets famous guest stars who could be victims, suspects, or something in between.

Johnson created, wrote, and directed the series, with Lyonne participating as executive producer and star of the series. Poker Face is set to run for 10 episodes, with the first four premiering on January 26 when the series premieres and the rest airing on Thursdays.
