KNOW HIM? $5K reward awarded to woman accused of using marijuana to lure man to MS-13 execution


HOUSTON – A woman has been charged with murder after authorities said she lured a man to his death at the hands of fugitive MS-13 gang members with machetes. Harris County Attorney, Kim Ogg.

Officials say 20-year-old Karla Jackelin Morales cut her ankle monitor and jumped on bail just days before her October 25, 2021 trial is set to begin. her role in In 2018 shooting and machete killing 24 year old Jose Villanueva.

“She helped plan and plot this cruel execution, and someone out there knows where she is hiding,” Ogg said. “You can do the right thing by helping bring justice to Jose’s family and you can get rewarded for your efforts.”

Five other gang members who killed Villanueva were found guilty and sentenced to prison. Morales was the last to face trial.

Morales, who is also nicknamed “Cherry”, “Karlita”, “Missy” and “Foxy”, is described as 5 feet tall with a heavy build. She has black hair and brown eyes, as well as tattoos, including a large one on her upper left breast that reads “Alicia”.

Officials said Morales was waived on the 60,000 bond and five days before the trial, on October 20, 2021, she cut off her ankle monitor, which contained a GPS tracking device. She has been accused of jumping bonds.

Morales was born in California but has family in Central America, including Honduras and El Salvador. Authorities believe she may still be in the Houston area.

On July 29, 2018, Morales allegedly lured Villanueva to a grassy field near Spring Elementary School to smoke marijuana, a belated birthday present. When he got there, officials said several MS-13 members stabbed him with a machete, and then, as he tried to crawl away, shot him repeatedly with a shotgun.

According to court documents, Villanueva evaded gang members who were hunting him for allegedly disparaging the gang during a rap battle. His wrapped and decomposed remains were found several days later.

Back when Morales was charged, prosecutors asked a magistrate judge to set her bail at $250,000. Instead, the judge set it at $100,000. A district court judge later lowered the bail to $60,000 and waived the defendant for the ankle monitor. Officials said she was absent from the hearing days before the trial began and has not been seen since.

The case is being prosecuted by the Organized Crime and Gangs Division of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. It was investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Gang Division.
