BUFFALO, NY – Beginning his third year in the NFL, Buffalo Bills tight finish Dawson Knox is a lover of what he does on the field and off it.
Since rookie season, Knox has devoted time to the PUNT Pediatric Oncology Partnership, which provides financial and emotional support to West New York families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.
This fund helps pay for treatment, hospital bills, food and even parking at the hospital.
“The more we can raise money for the PUNT fund, the better off these families will be,” says Knox.
The Bills star knows first-hand how a cancer diagnosis can affect an entire family, as it has been his family’s dealings with childhood cancer. Knox’s cousin was diagnosed with bone cancer, but fortunately, he has since beaten the disease.
This is the motivation for him to return to Osehi Children’s Hospital to brighten up another festival of young fans.
“Being able to walk into a room and immediately put on a smile is incredible,” Knox said. “It’s been a great feeling for me personally but also knowing that you can bring some joy into the life of someone who is literally rock bottom is a really great feeling. “
While at the hospital, Knox noticed something. All patients wore gray, non-slip hospital socks.
That observation prompted him to take it one step further and team up with Bare Feet to form “Knox Socks.”
“I was like, you know it got on with Knox, it could be something fun that they could feel like their own,” Knox said.
The proceeds from each pair of socks sold will be converted into PUNT
Knox says that he doesn’t design socks, he just makes good stuff. He plans to put out more designs and even other outfits under his line to his benefit. So is the PUNT platform.
