Kojima Productions teases new game with second cast reveal: Shioli Kutsuna

Death Stranding developer Kojima Productions is once again showcasing its next project by revealing who will star in it. On Tuesday, the developer announced that actor Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2, Invasion) will join Elle Fanning in the new project of Kojima Productionshas not yet been officially announced but is being revealed slowly and confusingly.

Kojima Productions has confirmed Kutsuna’s involvement in the project – it could be a new production called Overdose or the sequel to Death Strandingwith a new poster has the actor’s face bathed in red light. Like Fanning’s reveal, “Who am I?” question, Kutsuna’s poster includes a question: “Where am I?” It also has the words “A Hideo Kojima game” and Kutsuna’s name.

That poster had an extra layer: a second, all-black poster with the words “What’s wrong?” and an icon that appears to be a tentacle creature with shark-like fins.

What does this mean? Primarily the founder of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima still seems to enjoy mystery in his pre-reveal marketing and that trend of collecting famous faces will only increase, not decrease as his studio prepares the second year game. One can also speculate that Kojima Productions is gearing up for an impending reveal of its next project, with Kojima doing the interviews himself and boasting that his next game is “almost like” a new vehicle”.

“If this works, it will turn the tide,” Kojima recently told The Guardian“Not only in the game industry, but also in the film industry.”

Kojima he suggested on Twitter that more confusing revelations are coming, but don’t reveal any real details about what Kojima Productions’ next move will be. We know that the developer is working with Microsoft on a The “all-new” game for Xbox, although this sounds a bit different: “It might take a while,” Kojima said when announcing the game earlier this year. Studio are also working with SUonypublished Death Stranding on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and various PlayStation executives (eg: Hermen Hulst, Jim Ryan) recently visited Kojima Productions in Tokyo.

We may learn more about Kojima’s mystery game next month, when Game Awards 2022 – hosted by Kojima you and Death Stranding guest Geoff Keighley – go live December 9.
