‘La Jauria’ Tops Critics’ Awards of the Week – The Hollywood Reporter
Andrés Ramírez Pulido .’s Colombian TV Series La Jauria won two honors on the sidebar of Critics Week at Cannes, including the top Grand Prize.
The film also took home the SACD trophy ahead of the main jury awards presented this weekend. La Jauria tells the story of Eliú, a country boy who is imprisoned in a juvenile experimental center in the heart of the Colombian rainforest for a crime he committed against a friend.
Elsewhere, the French Touch jury prize went to Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, competed in Cannes. The Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award was presented to Love Theo Dalvaled by Zelda Samson, and the Leitz Cine Discovery Award for short was presented to João Gonzalez’s Ice Trader.
Rounding out the Cannes award for Semaine de la Critique, or Critics’ Week, is the Gan Foundation Prize for distribution that goes to Mikko Myllylahti’s Woodcutter’s story.
A number of directors whose films regularly debut at Cannes – including Leos Carax, Jacques Audiard, Nadav Lapid, Justin Kurzel and François Ozon – all started their careers at Le Semaine de la Critique.
