La Russa on White Sox tenure: ‘I didn’t do my job’
Tony La Russa resigns as Chicago White Sox manager on Monday with a rather stinging indictment of his own performance.
La Russa said in a statement that a problem with his pacemaker, as well as a second health issue, has prevented him from continuing to manage the White Sox into 2023. Russa had to give it up for the sake of his health, he did it. It is clear that he thinks he has failed as a manager.
La Russa called the group’s 2022 record an “unacceptable disappointment.”
