Land Rover take it another trip come to good legacy and come back to 2023 Defender Cup copy. Limited to 250 units in North America, the off-roader was designed to pay homage Classic Land Rover models competed in the Camel Trophy from 1980 to 2000.
While Ultimate Trophy Edition launched in 2021 based on Defender 110 four doors, the latest installment in the series is an evolution of the two-door 90. It features a yellow exterior finish and has a long list of off-road items including a roof rack, roof ladder, winch, integrated air compressor, plus front and rear fenders. Version-specific “Cup” badges add a finishing touch to the design.
Land Rover also adds an extended black exterior, Air Suspension, Cold Climate, Terrain and Advanced Off-roading options packages as well as trailers. One of the coolest features of Trophy Edition not available on or in truck, however. Buyers will receive two tickets to a one-day off-road experience called the North American Cup Competition and will be held at the Land Rover Experience Center in Manchester, Vermont. They will face a number of challenges on and off the road, and a panel of judges will choose the winner from six batches of up to 15 teams.
The prize is a trip to the UK for the Land Rover Classic Trophy Competition scheduled for spring 2023. Land Rover is also allowing enthusiasts to enter the Edition Victory Trophy Competition. 2021 return in 2022 at a cost of $5,000/team.
Manufacturing 2023 Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition is limited to 250 pieces; 220 is destined for the United States, and the remainder will be distributed throughout Canada. Currently on sale at select Land Rover retailers, the off-roader is priced at $96,475 including a $1,475 destination fee. For context, the straight-six P400 X-Dynamic SE trim on which the Trophy Edition is based has a base price of $70,575.
