Larry Lieber, Stan Lee’s Brother, Sues Marvel

Larry Lieber, who scripted the preliminary appearances of Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Loki, Fin Fang Foom, and different heroic and villainous characters within the Marvel Universe, has sued Marvel/Disney for an even bigger portion of the pie. Disney has counter-sued to guard their pursuits.

Earlier in the present day we reported that the heirs of artist Steve Ditko had filed for copyright termination on Spider-Man and Physician Unusual, characters first drawn* by Ditko.

A brand new report by THR’s Eriq Gardner reveals that that is simply the tip of the iceberg of a brand new spherical of copyright claims and counterclaims among the many heirs of Silver Age creators – and the only real surviving creator, Larry Lieber,  aka Stan Lee’s brother. Leiber is now 89 years outdated and labored on the earliest comics variations of Thor, Iron Man, and Ant-Man. 

Though Marvel (and DC) have in recent times made good with comics creators by paying them $0.00001 on the greenback of the billions made by these superheroes, it seems that with [attorney Marc] Toberoff coming into the chat, the stakes have been ratcheted up a lot increased.

Heidi MacDonald reports that heirs to other creators are also suing.

Larry additionally wrote and drew The Unimaginable Hulk cartoon,
and drew The Superb Spider-Man each day cartoon from 1986 – 2018.
