LDWF agents said they were alerted at around 6 a.m. to a boat that capsized in Vermilion Bay with two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man clinging to the boat.
LDWF staff along with VPSO delegates arrived on the scene around 6:45 a.m. and were able to get the boys aboard the LDWF boat.
Agents and deputies transported the boys ashore where they were examined by emergency medical services personnel and returned to their families.
Staff members learned that the boys launched their 14 to 16-foot boat in Vermilion Bay for a duck hunt around 5 a.m.
The water was deemed too coarse, so they tried to turn around to get back in when the engine stalled. The boat then hit the water and capsized. One of the boys left his cell phone in a waterproof case and they were able to call VPSO for help.
