League of Legends star guardians return for a big summer event

Great Guardians of the Stars upcoming events for Riot Games’ League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Legend of Runeterra on July 14th. A bunch of characters from different rosters will receive new Star Guardian skins and cosmetics, and the new lore of this alternate universe will be released in two patches in throughout the summer. Riot will also release a Sessions album revolving around Star Guardian Taliyah.

“The last time we reviewed Star Guardian, we really found that our players loved it and stuck with it,” Stephanie Bedford, narrative producer at Riot Games, said on a call. phone with Polygon. “So we just really wanted to do that.”

For those just learning about these lovable skins, Riot has released a “Story So Far” timeline that includes all the lore that has been around this alternate universe so far. It’s a classic magical girl story, with a force known as the First Star choosing guardians to protect humanity against the universe. The Star Guardians are portrayed as high school kids, balancing the two identities of teenager and hero.

The previous installments of Star Guardians had film, animationMusic, a PvE . event, and short stories posted on the Universe website – but all the story details are pretty vague. The player can gather an overall setting and a few key events, but not a running narrative. What we do know comes mainly from skin biographies and alternate dialogue from legendary skins.

But despite the limited nature of this story, fans still love Star Guardians. These alternate characters are so cute, with cute outfits, adorable allies, and wholesome friendships you’d expect from a squad of magical girls.

“This is one of our most popular themes that we have as an alternate universe,” says Bedford. “Riot really sees our alternate universe as a really great medium for expression and storytelling. So for us it’s not just cosmetics or skin, and we’re trying to create something that has depth, breadth and player appeal. “

Star Guardians has an enthusiastic fan base, they draw fan art skins, intersect them, think about where the story might go or what certain clues might mean, and if otherwise engrossed in the alternative world.

“All of our developers are definitely lurking around and sometimes we can’t always interact or give things away,” Bedford laughs. “But even within Riot, we are such big fans ourselves that we link it up in our off-topic channels and say ‘Check out this amazing work’ and ‘Oh my gosh, do it! How do they know?’ or “They’ll be surprised when this happens.”

In the main line League of Legends Legend, champions live in dangerous fantasy environments that demand their excellence. It’s a tournament of legendary. The Star Guardian versions of these characters aren’t one to fight hard or get tired.
