LeBron James ejected after Isaiah Stewart’s bloodshed as Lakers, Pistons scuffle

LeBron James threw a haymaker and was kicked out of the Lakers’ game against the Pistons on Sunday night.

In the third half, James was sent off for a 2 Flagrant foul after James delivered a powerful back-slam on Pistons striker Isaiah Stewart following a foul.

The punch resulted in a clash between the Lakers and the Pistons.

THAN: How does the return of LeBron James impact the Lakers’ slow start?

On closer inspection, it appears that LeBron took a closer look to see exactly where Stewart was before he threw the backhand. After review, LeBron was rated with Flagrant 2, which means there was a strong and unnecessary impact to the opposing player’s head or neck area.

Stewart saw red, both literally and metaphorically, after the hit: The punch opened a wound near Stewart’s right eye, and he was spewing blood from the cut. Stewart was not satisfied with the punch, and continued to charge at the Lakers several times, with his sights set on LeBron and guard Russell Westbrook.

Stewart’s outburst resulted in an eviction. Westbrook was also evaluated technically in play.

Stewart, a sophomore with the Pistons, was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team for his efforts last season.
