LeBron James Milestones: Where the Lakers star all-time ranks for points, assists, steals, 3 take
LeBron James once said that he chasing the ghost of Michael Jordan.
He may not be able to catch up to Jordan’s 6 Rings, but given the trajectory James’ career has taken, he will surpass Michael in many career milestones by the time he hangs up Nikes.
Entering the league’s 19th year, it’s reasonable to expect that a player of James’ caliber will surpass more than a few career milestones. Even though he’s spent more time off than this season, the King will still drop enough numbers to boost the rankings in a few categories.
James often says he won’t look behind the scenes until all is said and done, but that shouldn’t stop us from looking at the Lakers’ all-time ranking position.

Where does LeBron James rank in all-time scoring?
Ironically, for a guy who is not considered a “top scorer”, James is quickly approaching Karl Malone with second place on the all-time list.
James has a career average of 27.0 points per game. In the 2021-22 season, he’s averaging just one touch below that career mark with 25.8 points per game.
Going into Friday’s game against the Clippers, James was far ahead of Malone with 1,278 points. Assuming James remains fit enough to play 50 more games this season at current averages, he should get past The Mailman before the regular season ends.
If he maintains his 25-point scoring average, he would become the NBA’s all-time leader in points for about 106 other games.

This is a category where the King won’t rule – it feels like John Stockton will keep the title forever – but James will climb higher than his current eighth place on the list.
As of December 3, James needs 117 assists to get past The Big O, Oscar Robertson. Assuming he doesn’t miss any more games, he should outpace him in 17 games.

Here’s another category where James will overtake Malone this season (not bad for a couple of strikers).
James is currently 12th on the all-time steals list, just needing three more goals to overtake Malone for 11th place. From there, he’ll have Alvin Robertson in his sights for the top 10.
James has a career average of 1.6 steals per game. He’s actually averaged 1.8 steals per game so far in 2021-22, the highest since the 2011-12 season. In all likelihood, he will move up to 9th all-time at the end of the season.
