Lion Electric Co. receives conditional order for 1,000 electric school buses – Montreal
The Lion Electrical Co. says it has acquired a conditional order for 1,000 electrical college buses from Scholar Transportation of Canada, whose dad or mum firm is managed by Quebec’s pension fund supervisor.
The order, whose worth hasn’t been specified, is conditional on receiving “passable” non-repayable grants from Infrastructure Canada’s Zero Emission Public Transit Fund.
Ottawa has introduced plans to supply $2.75 billion over the following 5 years to help the electrification of public transit and college transportation.
Deliveries would start in 2022 and proceed till the primary half of 2026.
The electrical buses would substitute diesel autos inside STC’s fleet of greater than 16,000 autos and permit it to turn into North America’s largest zero-emission college bus operator.
Quebec-based Lion says the 1,000 electrical buses would remove as much as 23,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases per yr and assist the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec to satisfy the decarbonization targets for its portfolio.
