Livingston 2 – 1 Dundee U

Livingston climbed to fourth in the Scottish Premiership after a late Ryan Edwards own goal gave the Lions a well-deserved win over Dundee United.

Edwards made Nicky Devlin’s pass into his net in the 83rd minute as the home side came in from behind to take the three points.

Liam Smith put the visitors ahead after just two minutes before Scott Pittman leveled in the 23rd minute.

Livingston created opportunity after opportunity on either side during the break and ultimately got their reward late.

In a high-octane start, the visitors took the lead after just two minutes thanks to Smith’s work.

Tony Watt made a low pass in the area and Smith reacted fastest to send the ball home to score his first goal of the season.

It was Watt’s last meaningful involvement as the striker limped off after just 13 minutes, when Nicky Clarke came on.

Livingston equalized in the 23rd minute with a brilliant Pittman strike. Bruce Anderson decided not to shoot inside the box and cut the ball back to his teammate.

Pittman controlled the heavy pass before volleying down Benjamin Siegrist from 12 yards.

Livingston grew more confident after scoring and should have scored another when Ayo Obileye headed home Alan Forrest.

On the other end, Ilmari Niskanen tamed Max Stryjek with a header.

But it was the Lions who ended the first half stronger as they created countless chances.

Forrest hit a shot down the post from 18 yards before Devlin shot a masterful shot towards Siegrist.

Anderson then tried to overcome when the home team increased the pressure.

Livingston continued to appear at the beginning of the second half and continued to close thanks to Pittman.

Anderson finished in a low cross and Pittman stretched wide to touch the penalty area 6m away but Siegrist saved.

United manager Tam Courts made a double change in an attempt to give his side a foothold in the game, with Chris Mochrie and Scott McMann coming on.

United at least created a rare chance when Clark caught up with Calum Butcher’s cross in the box but with his angled shot he worked his way into the side net.

Forrest was then twice rejected by Siegrist as the home team continued to push to find a winner.
