MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A local mother and TikTok influencer is begging for answers after her son was shot dead Friday night in Prichard.
“I never asked you guys for anything – but I need your help with this, I have almost 7 million followers – someone must know something,” said Ophelia Nichols, known as Mama Tot, speaking on TikTok (account: ‘shoelover99 ′). “He’s only 18 – it’s the best period of someone’s life. And I know they’re out there in my town – they’re out there. “
It happened at a gas station on St. Stephens. Eighteen-year-old Randon Lee was shot at Exxon before driving across the street near an Energizer gas station – where he died of his injuries.
It’s not yet clear what led to the shooting, but Ophelia said investigators told her they were following leads.
“It’s hard because you’re putting all your hope and faith in these people and the police department and you have to sit back and hope and pray that they do what needs to be done – so that that person or people who have do this for my little baby who’s behind bars. You have no choice but to sit here and wait,” said Ophelia.
She is currently using her platform – to ask for help leading to an arrest.
“People talk – people talk. So I want that video to be seen because if the person who did this to my son can see what he did to our family – he took my son from me… my son,” said Ophelia.
Make it even harder – Randon will be 19 on Saturday.
“I spoke to him at around 10am yesterday to tell him I had money for his birthday. He was looking forward to it… just hanging out with his friends and girlfriends. Family is his life,” said Ophelia. “You see other people going through things like this and it never crosses your mind that it will be you one day. But for an individual to make the choice to take your child from you – he has a choice – they have a choice and they chose to take my son from me. “
Prichard Police and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office let us know the investigation is ongoing.
Ophelia said Randon is an organ donor and will live on even in death helping others.
