‘Lord of the Rings’ Rap Actor with Method Man and Killer Mike – The Hollywood Reporter
Stephen Colbert will never let the 20th anniversary of the release Lord of the Rings: Friendship of the Ring passed without dropping something special and so it passed on Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show.
Colbert, perhaps the most famous ‘Ringer’ on television, begins the segment with a sort of Gandalf lament that he won’t be on the air when the exact celebration takes place next week and then merges. lyrical about how. LOTR is the best trilogy ever released.
The presenter then drafted Late show band Jon Batiste for “a celebration to rule them all”, his own special hip hop track, a track titled “#1 Trilly”, which started off a bit slick then became something surreal like LOTR stars Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis and Hugo Weaving all guest vocals, along with professional rappers Killer Mike and Method Man.
The pluses go to Weaving, not only for his fluency but also for dropping his bars in subtle language.
Anna Kendrick also shows up, because, why not.
20 years later, and ‘Lord of the Rings’ is still the best trilogy ever! @StephenAtHome, @JonBatiste and some very special guests recorded a rap song to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this iconic movie! ♂️#LSSC pic.twitter.com/P3wWM4Z5Q4
