LSU made a rather awkward mistake in paying coach Brian Kelly this season.
A report from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor found that LSU unwittingly paid Kelly more than $1 million more than he owed, based on Holly Duchmann of Greater Baton Rouge Business Report. The report shows that the school began paying Kelly directly for hiring him in November 2021, then reached an agreement to send the payments to the coach’s LLC in May 2022, a The deal is not unusual for college football coaches.
However, LSU inadvertently continued to pay Kelly directly through November even after initiating payments to his LLC, resulting in an overpayment of more than $1 million.
