LSU presents challenge to Ole Miss’s goal of SEC championship

Ole Miss has big goal of beating number 6 Alabama in a few weeks and finally win Its first SEC Championship since 1963. But to do so, it will have to get past rival LSU first.

The Rebels (7-0, 3-0 in the SEC) are the last undefeated team left in the Western SEC, so they have as good a shot as they’ve had in years to get through the trap. However, they are anything but a sure bet to get there, as they are expected to lose at LSU (5-2, 3-1 in the SEC) this Saturday, per ESPN. ESPN puts the Tigers’ probability of winning at 51.3%.

No. 7 Ole Miss had a five-game losing streak in the previous year’s streak in a 31-17 home win. The Rebels have lost six in a row at Tiger Stadium, with their last win being in 2008. They ended painfully in 2020 to claim the record, lose 53-48 after leading the fourth quarter by 8 points.

LSU all-time string lead 64-41-4.

Not only do LSU have a head-to-head history, but the Tigers’ most recent performance also gives them confidence as they head into their second straight home game against a top 10 opponent.

For LSU, what is the difference in a week after they free fall against number 3 Tennessee. There weren’t any incidents in “Tom Petty Day in the Swamp” against Florida, when the Tigers roared to a Win 45-35.

Winger Jayden Daniels looked as if he had unlocked the passcode. He served this beautiful deep ball to Jaray Jenkins, who crossed very far.

Daniels completed the night of March 23 with a distance of 349 yards and 3 touches of the ball. He added 44 meters and three touchdowns. Daniels has thrown at least 300 meters in head-to-head matches. He will need a third in a row to keep up with a prolific wave of Ole Miss attacks.

The Rebels have an elite rush of attacks, which will most likely bring a quick defensive battle in the middle of the Tigers. They averaged 271.4 javelins while LSU allowed 145.6.

Their offense has also operated at a super efficient level. In their victory over Vanderbilt, for example, Commodores completely crushes the Rebels during possession, 41:17 to 18:43. Ole Miss still won 24 points, 52-28. Of the three SEC games, Ole Miss’s longest touchdown lasted three minutes and 43 seconds. In other words, LSU will not be able to play far against Ole Miss they will need to score points.

Doing so can be difficult against a defense Ole Miss has been given a chance on this season.

Last week, the Rebels were forced to reverse two of Auburn’s first four properties as they took a 21-0 lead. At the beginning of the year, in a big win over KentuckyOle Miss is forced to hand over the last two Wildcats properties, both deep within Ole Miss territory.

Daniels has only launched one interception during the season, so the defense will have to cut his job. Forcing a U-turn on Saturday could turn the Rebels’ luck in favor.
