Lululemon Take Form Yoga Mat Review

Scouting report: If you need some extra cushioning (or help keeping your center of gravity) during your practice, Lululemon Yoga Form 5mm have your back.

Since my first yoga class 15 years ago, I have always had problems with what yoga instructors call “sensitive knees.” I could take down the dog and fight it all day, but as soon as it was time to switch to cat-cow, or worse, crouch, my knees started hurting and I needed to get out of the pose. I’ve tried stacking yoga mats on top of each other (it’s annoying!) and folding blankets and towels in between (cludky!) But this year, I decided it’s finally time to switch to a thicker mat, higher quality.

I was initially interested in Lululemon Take Form Yoga Mat because it’s 5mm thick, extra thick, and I believe it will allow me to practice without MacGyver adding any “sensitive knee” solutions. I was right — the mat is crazy comfortable and now I’m missing the best of them.

What I didn’t expect to love so much about this rug is (according to Lululemon’s website) “3D partition cushioning” and “creative textures to help you focus.” A textured yoga mat with 3D cushioning that’s supposed to help you focus? Honestly, I had my doubts.

As it turned out, these statements weren’t really meaningless— Take . Yoga Mat was actually created with Lululemon’s Whitespace R&D Lab. Is that “creative design”? It’s designed with insights gathered through lab research that explores the cues yogis of all levels use to navigate their practice and the challenges they face. involves alignment, spatial awareness, and concentration.

“3D Partitioned Cushion” refers to circular areas on the mat that have been mapped out and tested to guide optimal body positioning through the poses that yogis identify as the most difficult. Note that the alignment guide circles can rotate in any direction; It doesn’t matter which way you’re facing on the mat, so you just throw it down and jump up. The “tidal-inspired texture” and contours of the rug really offer great grip and take stability to the next level.

While this is primarily a yoga mat, I have also used it for stretching and meditation. If I could get past my pilates complexity, I’d probably use a mat for that too. The only thing I do not use Take . Yoga Mat supposed to travel. Since the rug is designed to be super thick and supportive, it’s too big and heavy to fold into my suitcase. Luckily for me, Lululemon also makes a pretty sweet fold travel yoga mat that’s perfect for traveling.

If I still haven’t convinced you how great Take . Yoga Mat is, consider the fact that it’s also made with Forest Stewardship Council certified rubber so you can rest easy knowing that the natural rubber that supports you is supplied in a sustainable way.
