SACRAMENTO – Sacramento State Double Beach Volleyball Team consisting of McKenna Smith/Ashtin Olin and Bridgette Smith/Caitlin Volkmann both are honored to be mentioned at all of today’s Big West Conferences.
The Big West consists of seven beach volleyball teams, including three nationally ranked (Hawai’i, Long Beach State and Cal Poly). The general team has six doubles teams in the first team, five teams in the second team, and nine honorary awards.
Both Hornet pairs hit a Sacramento State record of 10 wins in a single season this year.
That includes M. Smith/Olin, both seniors, who won 10-3 and set a show record for best percentage win (0.769). The duo won 2-0 at #2 in the Hornets’ lineup and 8-3 in #3. In fact, the duo have won four in a row and five of their last six regular matches. end of the season. Of their 10 wins, eight came in consecutive sets. The B. Smith/Volkmann combination, both redshirt freshmen, hit a 10-13 record at Numbers 1 and 2 on the lineup. The pair won 6-7 in 1st place and 4-6 in 2nd place. They have won four of their last five games of the season, including a three-set win at the Championship. Big West before CSUN. The Hornets recently wrapped up their 10th beach volleyball season at the Big West Championship in San Luis Obispo last week.
