Man accused of sexually assaulting jogger at Fells Reservation faces charges

Police said the attack appeared to be random. McCue is expected to be settled in Somerville County Court.

The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said McCue hit a 48-year-old woman in the head with a rock several times before sexually assaulting her on Friday.

Investigators said it happened while she was walking in the Leslie Trail area on the Middlesex Fells Reservation at around 8am.

Investigators said McCue was quickly identified through evidence left at the scene.

The victim was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment for his serious injuries and was most recently listed in a stable condition.

The reserve is a large recreation area – almost 500 acres – used daily by joggers, hikers and cyclists.

Police said the attack appeared to be random.

McCue is expected to be settled in Somerville County Court.
