Man accused of taking off jewelry of man who died shortly after fatal crash in Pine Lawn
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – A man is facing charges, accused of taking jewelry from a dead man after he died in a crash on Pine Lawn Sunday.
Elmer Perry, 46, was charged with one count of burglary. Police say he stole from 46-year-old Arthur Fulton shortly after Fulton was killed in a crash on Jennings Station.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. south of Interstate 70 on Jennings Station Road when Fulton pulled his Cadillac CTS out of the driveway. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a Mercedes-Benz crashed into a Cadillac, setting the Mercedes on fire. Fulton died, the driver of the Mercedes survived.
Before paramedics and police arrived on the scene, authorities allege that Perry got into the Cadillac and then took the jewelry out of Fulton. Perry was later arrested. Police say he has confessed to the offence.
Perry is being held in the St. Louis with a $25,000 cash-only bond. The jewelry was later returned to the Fulton family.
