Man arrested after 160 animals were found in poor condition at his home

COLLINSVILLE, Okla. – According to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, more than 160 animal cruelty charges will be filed against a homeowner in suburban Collinsville.

More than a hundred animals were found in poor conditions, some of them even dead.

The Sheriff’s Office arrested the homeowner after receiving a tip about animal cruelty.

Samuel Anthony Smith is going to jail tonight after the sheriff found hundreds of animals in his home in poor condition.

Casey Roebuck of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said: “We received a tip that the animals at this home in Collinsville were not receiving the care they needed and were in poor condition. “.

When the delegates went to inspect the property, they found many chickens, some sharing a coop with other dead chickens.

They also saw a donkey, goat and other animals, many with no access to food or water.

The deputies could even hear some inside the house, so they immediately received a search warrant and returned home.

“We really dig deep and see what we found in this house,” says Roebuck.

They found a total of 160 animals, including chickens, goats, a pigeon, a donkey and two incubators full of eggs in uninhabitable conditions.

Fifteen of those animals died.

“We were amazed at the sheer number, especially of the chickens, it seemed like every time we opened one more enclosure, there were more and more chicks,” Roebuck said.

Delegates said some appeared to have died recently, while others may have been decomposing for a long time. They said the animals found alive were starving.

“They are very hungry; they were very thirsty. Roebuck said.

Smith is expected to be charged with one animal crime for every animal on his property found alive and dead, which means 160 counts in total.

Roebuck said some of the animals inside were found in a room with a floor covered in excrement.

“These are not conditions under which any animal or human being must live on which the animals have been brought to the Humane Society. They will be retained as evidence in this investigation,” Roebuck said.

The Sheriff’s Office asks the public to please report any cases of animal cruelty.

Smith is being held on a $320,000 bond, which is a $2,000 bond for each of the 160 fees.
