Man arrested after 70-block joyride in stolen FedEx truck in Manhattan


EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) — A person was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he stole an idle Fed Ex truck and took it on a 70-block joyride by Manhattan.

It occurred simply after 10 a.m., when officers responded to a 911 name of a Fed Ex truck stolen from the intersection of East twenty eighth Avenue and First Avenue in Kips Bay.

The keys have been within the ignition and the car was unoccupied on the time of the larceny.

The alleged perpetrator, 60-year-old Daryl Williams, drove the truck up First Avenue to East 103rd Avenue in East Harlem, the place he crashed right into a parked automotive, in accordance with authorities.

Police say Williams tried to flee the scene with packages from contained in the truck, however he was positioned below arrest by two NYPD officers who noticed him attempting to run away with the packing containers.

There have been no accidents reported.

Williams is charged with grand larceny, unauthorized use of a car, and prison possession of stolen property.
