Man arrested in Hardy County on bomb threat charges

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – A man was arrested in Hardy County early Tuesday morning on charges of making a bomb threat, police said.

Corey Secrist, 23, was arrested in connection with a fake bomb threat at the Pilgrims Pride Fresh Factory in Moorefield in October, according to a criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint says the supervisor was called Secrist, and he said the bomb was placed in “a long box, with brown tape in a box with a lid.”

Officers said they arrived at the box room about 13 minutes before the intended detonation with maintenance crews looking for anything similar to the box Secrist described to the supervisor, but found nothing. .

All staff were ordered to clear the building five minutes before the expected explosion, according to officers.

No bombs were found or detonated at the plant, according to the criminal complaint.

Officers said they spoke to Secrist 25 minutes after the planned bomb blast, and he told officers that he had been shown in a dream by God that an employee at the plant had booked a bomb in the box room.

Secrist has been charged with one count of making bomb threats.

5 News has chosen not to disclose the name of the employee Secrist referred or the supervisor in question at the plant to protect innocent people.
