MANCHESTER, CT (WFSB) – A driver drove past a group of protesters in Manchester this evening.
The group was blocking a section of Central Street in Manchester when all were detected via mobile phone video.
Unfortunately, police have no comment at this time as this is an open investigation.
Earlier in the day, BLM 860 held a rally in Hartford, largely focused on the recent ruling in the Kyle Rittenhouse case.
They and BLM New Haven met Power Up CT and the Self-Defense Team in Manchester for another rally in Manchester.
We are told that at some point part of the group has moved to the streets of Manchester.
Then, as the group was blocking a section of Central Street as an act of civil disobedience, a sedan with a Massachusetts license plate hesitated, then continued to drive into the crowd of protesters.
I just spoke to one of the protesters there, Tammy Jones.
Jones has been protesting for over 40 years, but this is the first time she’s been involved in anything like this.
She said the driver was so furious that she hit her face and she couldn’t believe she was being hit by a car.
Jones said she knows the interval can be just seconds, but it feels much longer.
According to Jones, she wasn’t the only one hit by a bullet. She said she was the one injured the most. She was hit in the stomach and right leg.
At one point she put both hands on the hood of the car. She watched both of her wrists bend backward as the driver didn’t stop.
Jones added that a woman in the passenger seat was shouting at the male driver to stop.
Jones says she filed a police report and is spending the rest of the night figuring out exactly what she went through.
She said maybe tomorrow she will go to the hospital for a closer examination.
