Then the day after Christmas, he contacted LaBonty again. He said he has about 50 more macaws to surrender to LaBonty, founder of the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG).

But instead of delivering dozens more, he brought 339 more to the farm in Macomb County, where LaBonty and volunteers care for dogs and other animals in their shelter and rehabilitate animals. wild animals.
The birds are alive but in trouble.
LaBonty told 7 Action News: “They were all lying on top of each other, stuffy and very tense. They didn’t even move when they got there. I think they were all dead because none of them moved. “.
Shannon Kramer from the Battle Creek Bird and Sea Rescue Team came with some of their volunteers to care for over 300 of their birds.
Kramer told 7 Action News: “Bless him for getting help and don’t just open the window because it’s very dangerous, they’re all going to die.”
