Apple AirTag is a great utility to keep track of your everything. If it’s AirTagged, you can find anything easily. However, it is also used by some for heinous purposes as happened to this terrible man’s ex-girlfriend.

Apple AirTags have been a hot and controversial topic in recent months due to one main reason – their ability to be horribly used by bad actors to spy on and harass people. Without a doubt, AirTag is a great accessory that helps users keep track of their personal items like keys, wallet, purse, luggage or anything else. In fact, some Everyone are keeping them even in the car so they can be tracked if they are stolen. But in the past, several cases have been witnessed Apple Airtag being used as a stalking device. In the most recent case, Christopher Paul Trotman, a UK man, used Apple AirTag to track his ex-girlfriend. According to Daily Letters, the man harassed the victim with constant calls and questions, then ordered an AirTag from Amazon online to attach to her car to track her every move. Apple AirTag can be linked to iPhone to access its location.

It was revealed during a hearing at Swansea Crown Court how and why Trotman of Gwynedd Avenue, Swansea harassed the victim. The report mentions that he broke up with her in August 2020 after being together for over 10 years. He then bombarded the woman with unnecessary questions about her whereabouts and even offered her money to quit her job at a pub. He then used an Apple AirTag tracking device to track her every move.

Then, in March 2022, the victim received a notification on her iPhone to connect to the Apple AirTag when she got into the car. However, at first she ignores it but then she realizes what it is when she receives an obnoxious text from Trotman. He revealed her exact location and she didn’t know how he knew where she was. She discovered the problem when her daughter also started receiving AirTag notifications. Then the victim found a AirTag glued in the recess under the rear bumper of the vehicle.

She contacted the Police, and a search of Trotman’s Amazon account revealed that he had purchased several Apple AirTags in the previous months. Incredibly, he had been interviewed before and was soon released on bail. But was again arrested for alleged witness intimidation and detained. Trotman received a nine-week prison sentence and restraining order at Swansea Crown Court.
