Manage your mental health in 7 easy steps

It’s time to take control of how we feel, realize our power, and manage our mental health. Healthista chats with the author Alan Lucas, who reveals how to ‘Organize yourself’ in 7 steps

More and more young people are struggling with their mental health. From feeling anxious and lost, to feeling like you have no control over your emotions.

In the UK alone, the number of people under 18 using mental health services has increased by 30% in the last year. Furthermore, more than one million prescriptions have been written for adolescents by 2022.

While help is always available, resources are stretched, information can be overwhelming, or you may find yourself on a never-ending wait list.

So if you want to work on your own, where do you start?

The amount of self-improvement information available and all the different approaches can feel overwhelming and confusing, and the language is often unnecessarily complicated, over-intellectualized, and full of information. jargon.

But that’s not necessarily the case. The core principles of all personal development work are essentially the same, and it’s really not that complicated.

To change your life, you must change. You have to work on your inner world. So how do you do it and in a cost and time efficient way?

Alan Lucas’s latest book – Realize your strength: 7 steps to realign yourself – can teach you that. If you follow the Self-Organization System (aka the SYSO System), you will change your life, because you will change yourself. It’s not complicated, but it’s up to you, to do.

Lucas is an advocate of making things simple, clear, and jargon-free. As a coach, he knows all too well that change is more likely to happen when understood in simple terms.

There are potentially countless struggles we can all face with our own mental health. But the principles behind these problems are the same.

As a coach, Lucas was obsessed with simplifying these principles and distilling them into seven steps, sharing them in an easy-to-understand way to help clients create lasting change.

Can ‘self-solution’ really be as simple as these 7 steps?

Well, ask yourself this. Would your life experience be better if you were more self-aware, manage your mind more effectively, and become a master of your emotions?

These are just the first three steps of the Self Sorting System.

  • Step 1 -Become more aware
  • Step 2 – Manage your mind
  • Step 3 – Take charge of your emotions

Knowing what to do is one thing, but it’s important to actually test what you learn, and the Sort Your Self Out system is filled with exercises to help you do just that, instead of just reading about it.

For example, in Step 2, you actively reprogram yourself, to create a new identity and strengthen self-belief. ‘It’s all about trust,’ as Lucas said.

In Step 3, there are exercises to help you better manage your energy in motion (your electronic movement), to realize your power and never let ’emotions overwhelm you’ again.

So what about the remaining 4 steps?

Step 4: explains that we are all born with inherent human needs, which we are trying to meet (even if we are not aware of this).

We all have survival, personality and spiritual needs and once we have our survival needs met, how do we prioritize meeting our personality and spiritual needs as well as how How we respond to them determines our level of fulfillment in life.

Step 5: focus on the importance of having a clear purpose. Lucas coined the term ‘Usefulness’ to describe a true human sense of satisfaction that can only be achieved by helping others or being helpful.

Once you’ve completed these first 5 steps, your life will feel different, because you’ll see things differently and talk to yourself in more helpful and positive ways.

Step 6: encourages us to realize that everything is interconnected and emphasizes that much of human suffering is born from the illusion of separation.

The SYSO system includes exercises to increase our awareness of the impact of everything we do, far beyond the present moment.

Step 7: reminds us that everything is energy and that energy moves in waves or vibrations. This system has tools to help us raise vibrations and shows that fundamental physics explains how vibrational and wave energy attract energy similarly.

If you follow the 7 steps of the Self-Removal System, you will change your life because you will change yourself.

It’s important to keep training and practicing. You don’t go to the gym to work out and you suddenly hit peak fitness!

Through the Self-Removal Sorting System, we learn that life isn’t really about finding ourselves – it’s about creating ourselves. When we realize the power we have to create the person we want to be, we can make our lives joyful, productive, and deeply satisfying.

We can basically be the best version of ourselves and that’s better for everyone, but most importantly yourself.

All profits from book sales Realize Your Strength: 7 Steps to Organize Yourself are used to provide free personal development resources to young people and Lucas speaks at no cost to schools school and youth group. Buy the book, help yourself, and know that you will help others too.
